Pumpkin tasting

Today we roasted pumpkin flesh and seeds. We found out that the stringy stuff inside is called the membrane. The seeds were delicious and most of us liked the pumpkin flesh.

Pumpkin Challenge time

We had lots of challenges today linked to our story. We scooped out the seeds from pumpkins so we could roast them, we made new homes for the characters using natural resources and we helped keep our outside environment clean and tidy by sweeping up.

Pumpkins!

Thank you to all who brought in pumpkins for our learning this week. We have read the story and had a look at what is inside a pumpkin.

Story writing and telling Reception children.

Halle shared her stories from home. She brought the main character, Sammy to meet the class. Jessica wrote her story all about a big Jessica!
Can you write a short story? You could do it at home and bring it in.

20141015-144125.jpg Duke and Kyle worked hard to build a Gruffalo Den. They carried the branches safely to make the den. We started weaving using the ivy but found it very tricky. How else can we camouflage the cave?

Bugs

The Boys have just found a bug. It’s grey and lives in wood. What is it?

Healthy Cooking

Today we made a healthy snack for the Gruffalo. We decided to make flapjacks as they are made using oats and oats release energy slowly. As we mixed the ingredients we realised that they weren’t actually that healthy as there was lots of sugar and syrup in the recipe. We thought about ways to make them more healthy but what we’re really looking for is a different healthy snack to make. Any ideas? Please look at your recipe books at home and let us know your ideas. You might even make them at home and let us know what you think!P1080153 P1080154 P1080155 P1080157 P1080158 P1080159
