One of the courgette plants we bought at the plant sale is growing well in our garden. Yesterday we enjoyed looking at the beautiful yellow and orange flower but this morning it is closed. Do you know why the flower closed over night?
We made our own sun dials as it was beautiful and sunny this morning. However, by the time we had made them the sun was covered by clouds! We now know you can’t see the shadows caused by the sun when it is cloudy!
Our strawberries are starting to grow in the garden. We need to make some signs for them so we are practising how to draw strawberries. We learned how to shade, how to look for where the light is hitting and how to draw what we could see, rather than what we think a strawberry looks like.
We have noticed new fruit growing on the strawberry plant. We know they’re not ready to eat as they’re still green and hard. The beans and potatoes have also really started growing.
Which of these plants from our garden can you name?
After the success of the first plant sale we have decided to open it back up for one day only and we would like to invite our parents. It will be open after school on Tuesday. Please bring your change along.
We decided to use the cress we have been growing to make egg and cress sandwiches. We all helped out with different jobs. We have been learning to follow and write instructions so we followed instructions to make the sandwiches.
Delicious! We thought the cress tasted a little peppery.
We pulled a giant broccoli plant out of the garden and used it to learn about the roots, stem and leaves.
We sorted 2d and 3d shapes in the sunshine. What 3d shapes can you name?
