We found out that the last book Charles Darwin wrote before he died was all about worms and how they help change our environment. Just like Darwin has taught us, we want to find out for ourselves if what he said is true! We made worm homes and we are going to let the worms live in them for a while. We will then use the compost and compare the plants that grow in it to plants that have grown in soil without worm compost.
We worked together to research Charles Darwin and created art work, writing and labels for a big display.
We have been learning about the boat Charles Darwin was on when he circumnavigated the world. We found out that it was powered by the wind and had a large Crewe, led by Captain Fitzroy. Some reception children made their own HMS Beagle. Kyle made a flag and others made signs and menus.

We were very lucky to be invited into the time machine. We were all so excited and really hoped it would take us back to the 1800s…and it did! In the pits we found Darwin’s coat, scarf, quill, some jaw bones and a skull. We can’t wait yo use what we have learned in our literacy this week.
We discovered that Charles Darwin went to the amazing Galapagos Islands and discovered lots of new species. We did some research to find out what animals can be found there and some of us became cartographers and made a map of his voyage.
